Mac
Mac is a 7 year old beagle x whippet x collie who we adopted from the RSPCA in 2021.
He was part of a neglect case and had been found abandoned, tied up and muzzled in an empty house. The RSPCA workers think he’d been there for 3/4 days without food or water and he’d caused significant damage to his ears trying to wriggle free of his muzzle.
Unfortunately, his injuries led to a long stay at the RSPCA and this added to his anxiety - resulting in him not sleeping and barking pretty much 24/7.
In June 2021 we brought Mac home and our lives were swiftly turned upside down. He’s reactive to dogs, strangers, bikes and cats (all animals in fact, anything that moves basically, even frogs ha) and suffers from separation anxiety.
We’ve made a lot of progress over the past year and now he’s just a very loud and loveable part of the furniture. It hasn’t been an easy year but seeing Mac’s confidence grow as well as his trust in us has been so rewarding.
It feels impossible sometimes but adopting Mac is the best thing my partner and I have ever done.
