Bridgette
Bridgette is a toy x mini black poodle, she was rescued from a puppy farm in Wales.
The condition of the dogs rescued from there were awful, I have attached a picture of her not long after she was rescued. A local charity in Devon shut down the farm and there were multiple poodles and other breeds needing homes.
Her ears were so full of wax and hair, she had sore ears, very itchy and was loosing a lot of hair, along with having an umbilical hernia. She was super nervous and didn’t come near us for a few days but licked out toes. She was also weary of men and has taken almost 3 months to warm up to my partner. Bridgette had never walked on a lead before we got her and she was a joy to train.
Seeing her smile and witness new things was honestly so joyful and heartbreaking all at the same time. Seeing her roll around on the sand for the first time or her first zoomies was just so much more magical knowing the hell hole she had lived in most of her life. Bridgette is now so loving and so bonded to me and my partner as well as our close friends. She is slowly trusting people again.
Bridgette teaches us every day to be kind and to forgive and is of course spoiled rotten haha! She gets the most space on the couch, sleeps on the bed and assumes all parcels we get are for her. I knew I would love her but you can’t really explain the love you really feel for dogs until you have one of your own.
We couldn’t advocate more to support rescue charities. They are so full and constantly in need of donations.
